Allyson Hughes, PhD
Dr. Allyson S. Hughes is an assistant professor and health psychologist at Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, within the Department of Primary Care. Her research is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of people with diabetes, particularly focusing on health policy and the intersection of diabetes and disabilities. Her work centers on understanding the psychosocial challenges associated with diabetes management and health equity. She employs a range of research methodologies, including quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews and focus groups, and mixed methods approaches. Dr. Hughes is dedicated to advocating for health policy reforms informed by empirical data. Her commitment extends to improving diabetes care and outcomes for underserved populations, including those who are blind or have low vision.
